Activating the signed cooperation protocol between the Gas Regulatory Authority and the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency
To achieve fruitful cooperation and maximize benefits of the signed protocol between both gas regulatory authority (GasReg) and Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer protection regulatory agency (EgyptERA), a meeting headed by Eng. Karem Mahmoud the CEO of GasReg and Dr.Mohamed Moussa Omran the CEO of EgyptERA was held on Sunday the 28th of February at GasReg premises to agree upon the steps of activating the signed protocol between both sides.
The protocol was signed to enhance the effectiveness of exchanging experience between both parties and is considered a fundamental step towards exchanging technical support and expertise in the interest of the economy. The meeting dealt with studying the economic reform program, energy pricing mechanisms and their impact on market liberalization, preparing an integrated database and information on the market, setting the guidelines of contracts concluded between market parties, in addition to working mechanisms to ensure competition and avoid monopolistic practices in the market and the procedures to be taken in case of violating the provisions of the law.
The meeting resulted in the formation of specialized Committees to study mechanisms of implementing the objectives agreed upon and presenting the results on monthly basis.
