Approving the licensing fees for practicing the Natural Gas Market Activities for year 2023

The Board of Directors of the Gas Regulatory Authority, chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Tarek El Molla, has approved the licensing fees for practicing the natural gas market activities for year 2023. These fees are paid by license applicants in exchange for permission to engage in a regulated gas activity within the country’s borders, where its sovereignty is exercised, or for the issuance of a license renewal certificate.

The Council’s approval also included the calculation methodology, which takes into account the amount of gas traded by the licensee per million British thermal units. The fees were set at 0.0367 cents per million British thermal units for transmission activity, 0.0220 cents per million British thermal units for distribution activity, at 0.0291 cents per million British thermal units for shipping activity, and 0.0090 cents for gas supply activity. With regard to compressed gas activities, which have recently been regulated, the fees were adjusted to be 0.2259 and 0.2082 for gas compression filling facilities and trucking transportation activities, respectively, in order to encourage and develop the activity.

Taking into account that GASREG reduced the fees compared to last year 2022, aming to support companies operating in the activity amidst the current regional and global challenges. This is in order to obtain the necessary revenue, to protect GASREG’s economies from any fluctuations and facilitate the operation of companies without burdening them with additional fees that represent additional financial expenses while carrying out their activities. The value of license issuance or renewal certificate is paid in Egyptian pounds, and it is financially settled by the end of the year, according to the actual amount of gas traded.
