Engineer Khaled Khalaf Receives Certificate of Appreciation from Huawei, China
In line with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy and vision, and in alignment with the Gas Regulatory Authority’s policy of investing in diligent and outstanding human resources, Engineer Khaled Hussein Khalaf, General Manager of Technical Planning at Gas Regulatory Authority, has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for the Distinguished Group Award in the Mid-level Management Capacity Building Program by Huawei, China. Recently, Engineer Khaled completed an intensive two-month program on digital transformation with Huawei in China, as part of the Ministry of Petroleum’s mid-level management program.
This experience not only deepened his knowledge in the field of digital transformation, but also had a significant impact on his personal and professional journey. In addition to the technical skills he acquired, this experience contributed to his development, increased his knowledge, encouraged continuous learning, and reinforced a culture of innovation and constructive development.
Engineer Khaled also visited several exhibitions related to digital transformation to gain insights into the latest advancements. Additionally, he visited several oil and gas companies from various sectors of the Chinese energy industry to support his knowledge with executive insights and explore several digital scenarios that can be implemented as part of Egypt’s vision for digital transformation in the Egyptian gas market. The training focused on several challenges, including resistance to change, risk mitigation, and change management, as well as providing methods for selecting fast-executing projects. There was also an emphasis on defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with Egypt’s strategic plans for the gas market.
The training covered key areas, such as digital transformation schemes presented by international companies in energy markets, including Huawei, Supcon, Anton, and other Chinese companies. It addressed productive, commercial, operational, and maintenance aspects of the gas market, as well as hardware solutions related to data centers, including storage, data servers, and network devices.
Engineer Khaled also became acquainted with the immense advancements in virtual AI devices, such as containers, big data applications, and private, public, and hybrid cloud solutions for sectors like gas and oil transportation, exploration and production, and compressed natural gas (CNG) stations. The advanced digital transformation scenarios included enhancing key market pillars, such as gas leak detection, energy efficiency, and carbon emissions.
One of the most important gains from this journey was the enrichment of knowledge and collaboration with experts from diverse cultures and specialized minds in the energy industry.
