GasReg Approved the National Grid Tariffs for Year 2022

The Board of Directors of the Gas Regulatory Authority “GasReg”, chaired by HE. Eng. Tariq Al Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, approved the new natural gas transmission’s tariff value for year 2022.

The new approved tariff comes within a set of policies and procedures which are being performed by GasReg aiming at organizing the gas market and gradually liberalizing the gas market in compatibility with international practices, with the aim of integrating the Egyptian market with global gas markets. Taking into account the country’s strategy to be a regional hub for the trading of gas and oil.

The new approved tariff was determined by the Gas Regulator aiming to regulate the financial and commercial parts of the gas transmission activity to be economically profitable to the network owners.

Moreover, it is the first step in enabling the third-party access in accordance with the principles of transparency, justice, non-discrimination and equality, taking into account the interests of all gas market participants.

The (Gas transmission system) is considered to be the base  of the Egyptian natural gas infrastructure that is extended to deliver the  gas to all governorates of Egypt, and the methodology helps to provide the necessary liquidity to provide maintenance and development expenses for it, in addition to the  necessary capital to complete the horizontal expansion works to provide clean energy at a balanced price to advance the wheel of economic development .
