GASREG Successfully Completes the First Phase of Its Digital Transformation Roadmap
The Egyptian Gas Regulatory Authority (GASREG) plays a pivotal role in overseeing and regulating Egypt’s natural gas market, aligning with the country’s vision to maximize the utilization of its natural resources and bolster its position as a regional energy hub.
As part of its strategic objectives, GASREG has launched a comprehensive digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing its regulatory capabilities and ensuring efficiency in market management. This initiative incorporates advanced digital tools to monitor market activities, streamline administrative processes, expedite approval procedures, and improve service delivery for stakeholders—all while maintaining compliance and transparency among market participants.
As a key milestone in its digital transformation roadmap, GASREG has successfully completed the first phase of the “Synergi Gas” project, a platform for hydraulic modeling of gas networks. This platform was developed in collaboration with DNV, a global leader in technical consultancy, and was funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). The platform is designed to support technical regulatory operations and provide a sophisticated tool for analyzing and optimizing gas networks, thereby improving the efficiency of gas transmission and distribution operations in Egypt.
This achievement underscores GASREG’s commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair market environment. Establishing a modern regulatory framework is a cornerstone of attracting investments and building investor confidence in the gas sector. Furthermore, this effort contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian market and positions Egypt on the right path to realizing its ambition of becoming a regional energy hub, leveraging its robust infrastructure, which includes gas liquefaction plants and natural gas reception facilities.
