
Official visit to the Energy Regulatory Authority of Portugal
In light of the directives of Eng.. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral resources, to enforce the role of the gas regulatory authority as a major important and first step in transforming Egypt into a regional center for trading energy and the need to open and liberalize the Egyptian gas market and attract more investment in various Gas activities in Egypt, strengthening its regional role in the Mediterranean region
Within the framework of the Protocol of cooperation between the Egyptian gas regulator and similar worldwide authorities with the support of the European Commission.
Eng. Karem Mahmoud, CEO of the Egyptian gas regulatory authority and his delegation, paid an official visit to the energy regulatory authority of Portugal from 15 to 19 April 2018, sponsored and organized by the Mediterranean Energy Regulators Forum (MEDREG).
The joint cooperation between the two sides was discussed and the Portuguese experience in particular and the European Union in general, were reviewed in the liberalization and opening up of energy markets in order to improve the efficiency of the Egyptian gas regulatory authority by means of agreements to Exchange information and experience with a focus on how to overcome the difficulties encountered by these countries and make use of them in the stages of liberalization of the Egyptian gas market.
